Happy February!

Happy February, everyone!

I wanted to have my Christmas present series wrapped up before today...  but, as per usual, life happens.

So, while I work on finishing that up, I wanted to share my newest creations!  (Inventions?  Innovations?  Tinkerings?  Ooo-shiny-what-happens-when-I-do-this-putterings?)

Just in time for Valentine's Day, I present:

Heart of the Firedance

Heart of the Windsong

Yes, those are Swarovski crystal hearts.  (And how fun is it that I can spell Swarovski without having to look it up?)

And, yes, those are hair-accessory dangles.

Yet, there is something a little different about them...  and that's what I'm excited about.

You see, here's what the rest looks like:

'Tis a metal hairpin!

Ooooo, shiny!

Yes, indeed, these are long and slender hair accessories--or, hairpins as I've been calling them, to differentiate them from the thicker hairsticks that I usually make.

These hairpins are 5 inches long, and about 4mm thick--so, thinner than pencil, but still exceedingly strong.  They're a different look than my other hair accessories, and I've been having branching out of my comfort zone into different designs.

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of a
perfectly clear Swarovski crystal heart?
I'll give you a hint: very!

Cue the dramatic red-heart shadow!

I have more hairpin blanks, and I have at least two different series/sets that I'm working on...  They don't include Swarovski crystals, but they're equally cool!  (At least I think so, but perhaps I'm a bit biased.)

And, because I was pleased with it, I will leave you with the story that I wrote to go along with the Heart of the Windsong:

It is said that, in the Landus Fantasticus, the wind sometimes sings as it weaves through the trees.

What does it sing? That depends on the person who is listening. Some people hear the siren call of adventure; some people hear the subtle yearnings for home.

And, every once and awhile, the wind whispers tales of great love—love so strong and pure, that it makes the listener's heart ache with the beauty of it.

This hairpin is made in the shades of the wind—air-shadow silver juxtaposed against clear Czech glass that has just a touch of a rainbow sheen. And, at the bottom of the dangle, nestled between two iridescent teardrops, lies a clear Swarovski crystal heart. Subtle and understated, it shimmers—as lovely and pure as the windsong for which its named.

And, as always, thank you for reading!
