Create Everyday Challenge: Day 12

Day 12 is here!

...and the beads for today were definitely whimsical.

Want to see? Here they are:

Those are little game controllers. Hah!

My husband plays a lot of video games, both on the PC and on console. One of my favorite things to do is cuddle on the couch and work on a beading project (or any type of craft project, really) while watching him play a game.

So, I bought these little controllers because they remind me of him, and they make me smile.

Now, they did prove a little challenging when it came to designing. They really, really look like little bows to me, so in the end I just went with that inspiration.

...oh, and remember me saying that I have a lot of these chainmaille scales left over from Day 4? Yeah, they worked out just perfectly as the dangles for this set. (For those of you who care about such things, I like the way that the sloping angle at the top of the scales matches the width/shape of the bottom of the controller... they just look like they fit well together to my eye.)

I even made a hairstick to match:

Fun fact: that little glass pearl is also from my stash-of-beads that is currently hanging out on my beading mat. I'm so excited to finally be using some of those beads!

Here is everything together:

This set makes me laugh and smile, and think happy thoughts of spending time with my husband. And, because the controller beads really do look like bows, they are even on the more discreetly geeky side.

And, for fun... I know no-one would think it, but here is proof that I didn't just use the earrings that I made on Day 4:

You can now say that you've seen both pairs in the same place. ;)

And that means that I can wear this design, both with and without little controllers! (I don't have a hairstick without a controller, though... hmmm... I may need to rectify this.)

Thanks for joining me for my whimsical show-and-tell today. Be sure to come back tomorrow for Day 13!
