And what am I working with today, for my grand start of 2016?
One word: PINK.
Yep, PINK. |
...And I blame my sister.
I know that, sometime during my illustrious blogging career, I have described my interesting history with pink. In summary: I loved it as a little girl, eschewed it as a teen, and then one day after college realized that fuchsia and magenta and the occasional mauve have become staples in my wardrobe. (Huh. How that happened, I have no idea.)
I didn't really have that many pink beads, though, until recently... Because this past summer, my sister told me that pink--soft, gentle pink pink--is her current favorite color. And so, to make presents for her, I had to stock up! Hello, rose quartz!
...And hello, pink pearls. And pink vintage German acrylic.
And large pink lampwork focals by GlassyFields:
Ooooo, shiny! |
...Yep, I now seem to be buying pink.
And since I've been buying pink--and have accumulated a fair stash--it was inevitable that at some point I was going to make a tassel necklace with it.
Granted, I'm still in the planning stages at the moment... I haven't quite nailed down a design that I like. Playing around is super fun, though... Above, you can see two different versions that I've been experimenting with--one that includes magenta (on the left) and one that doesn't (on the right). Every time that I think I like one design better, I look at the other and then I'm all indecisive again.
Design materials, from top to bottom: Lampwork glass focal, vintage German acrylic, pearl, vintage Japanese acrylic, rose quartz, pearl (bleached), pearl (dyed), and more vintage German acrylic. |
I really am enjoying myself, though. After making so many presents and designing with a deadline, it's great fun just to play around. Experiment. And then, once I pick a variation, I get to decide what metal I'll pick to go with it. Silver, or gold, or copper, or brass--or a combination? Oh, what happy decisions! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and letting me share my pink musings with you... If I ever come to a decision, I'll try to remember to post the final necklace here. :)
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Pink, glorious pink. Love the pinks and your pink musings!
