Well, here it is the last day of June, and my technical issues still haven't been resolved. Ah well... the show must go on! This reveal is not what I had planned, but I would rather post something than end the month empty-handed.
So!
You want to know about the super secret project that I've been working on this month?
*drumroll please*
I've been putting together bead kits!
Specifically, bead kits to sell. You see, I have come to the conclusion that buying beads and making jewelry are two completely different hobbies. I have also come to the conclusion that designing is one of my greatest joys--and that I have way more jewelry ideas than is physically possible for one person to make.
Put those two conclusions together, and you get my craft room: a wonderful treasure trove of beads and projects that long to see the light of day, but are currently buried beneath years of accumulation.
So! The bead kits are part of my solution--my endeavor to give those projects a second wind, a new lease on life, and a home that will love them... and get them out of my craft room! :)
Which leads me to this month's challenge.
For some of the kits, I actually had enough beads to make two of them. For fun, I decided to keep one and list the other for sale, and then make something with the one that I kept. You know, just to show what might be possible.
...Sadly, this is where things kind of fell apart. I had three kits that I made jewelry for--and was only able to get good pictures of one. Also, my new Etsy store is supposed to be up and running, but there is a problem with my payment account and I had to put it in vacation mode while working with support to get it straightened out. Oh well! I suppose I'll be posting more as things get ironed out.
Anyway! Here is the one good picture I was able to get of the necklace I made with the above kit.
Still, despite this challenge not completely working out, I'm really excited about this new little project. I realize that bead kits aren't a new idea, but I'm pretty excited to share some of the lovely things I've acquired over the years. I also have some plans for a giveaway at some point... stay tuned!
Thanks so much for stopping by today to see what I've been up to! Have a wonderful last day of June, everyone, and I'll see you in July!
Making bead kits is a great idea. It would be fascinating to see what others make of the beads that we have collected.
