The Jenny Monthly Challenge - November Edition Review

Phew! It's been quite a month!

Now, I know that I've been posting the earring pairs throughout the month, but I thought it would be fun to show them all in one place, too. After all, there are quite a lot of them--and it's fun to see them as a collection.

So! Here you go! Here are all of the earrings that I made this month (in chronological order!):

I explored quite a few different design ideas as the month went on... I'm particularly pleased that I was able to try my hand at more chainmaille and wire-weaving. It's also fun remembering what I used as inspiration for some of them--like the Monet earrings, or the ice-on-the-tree earrings.

All in all, I call this month a success!

Thanks again for joining me this month as I worked my way through this crazy challenge... Now I just need to figure out what I'm doing for December! (Hint: it probably won't be as crazy-busy as this one, heh.)

Have a wonderful last day of November, everyone!

Today's Earrings: Grand Finale!

It's officially the last day of my Monthly Challenge!

Can you believe it--I've made 30 pairs of earrings this month. Imagine! (More than that, I realize, because there were some days I was over-productive... but, still, 30 earrings! Woo!)

For my grand finale, I decided that I wanted to use some of my special purple stick pearls--pearls that I've been hoarding, waiting for just the right occasion.

Here is what I made:

I paired the pearls with brass and Czech glass beads... and attempted to make messy wraps for the first time. Not too bad, even if I say so myself. :)

Thanks everyone for going on this journey with me... It's been fun!

Oh, and I officially reached my National Novel Writing Month goal, as well. Official total: 51,005 words. Woo-hoo!

And now I'm off... I have a convention that I'm attending tomorrow, and I need to decide what to wear.

Have a wonderful last day of November, everyone!

Today's Earrings: Finally, Some Chainmaille

There's only today and tomorrow left in this challenge... phew! This month has definitely been a crazy one!

Now, going into this month's challenge, I knew that I wanted to do at least one thing with chainmaille... and, since it's so close to the end, I figured that today might as well be that day!

So, after much futzing and playing around, here is what I made:

...Byzantine links with metal point drops!

As far as chainmaille goes, they're fairly straightforward. Still, I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. I'm getting much better when it comes to getting the links flush when I close them... Practice makes perfect, after all.

Hmm... I wonder how these would look with the swirls that I made a couple days ago...

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day, everyone... see you tomorrow, for the final reveal for this challenge! :)

Today's Earrings: Super Long Dangles

Today's design principle was apparently make the longest, dangliest earrings I could think of--without making a tassel.

These are the result:

...and honestly, I kind of love them.

They are surprisingly lightweight (the top bead is vintage acrylic, which definitely cuts down on the overall weight), and they are definitely fun. I love the way they sway--and can be seen even when I'm wearing my hair down. (My hair is once more way too long... it's all the way down my back again, which means smaller earrings get swallowed up by the mass of curls.)

I honestly wasn't expecting to like these earrings so much, but I really do... I may just end up keeping them.

Two more days left in this challenge... Woo-hoo! It's been quite the productive month!

Thanks for stopping by today... Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Today's Earrings: Bonus Swirls!

I had a chance to make another pair of swirly earrings for today, and just wanted to share:

Like the other ones that I posted, the swirls were made with 20 gauge wire... and, yep. I'm addicted to making them. :)

Have a wonderful night, everyone!

Today's Earrings: Wire Swirls

Some days are complicated days.

Those are the times when I make big fancy earrings, or try new designs.

...And then there are other days where simple wire swirls are good enough.

Guess what kind of day it is today?

...To be fair, I've actually not tried something exactly like this design before. I usually make those swirls as headpin toppers, in a smaller gauge, and put a bead with them. But today... today, I wanted the swirls to stand on their own merit.

I'm also rather addicted to making those swirls, so there is a chance they'll show up in a later design, too. Heh. Fun with wire swirls!

Can you tell I didn't get much sleep last night? I think it's time for more coffee.

Thanks so much for stopping by today... Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Today's Earrings: I Just Really Wanted to Make Something Green, Okay?

I don't usually wake up fixated on a color, but apparently today I did.

...And, you guessed it: that color was green.

I sometimes pick out my husband's clothes in the morning (it helps streamline the process as he gets ready, and as a non-morning person he appreciates it... plus it's fun), and I picked him a green shirt. A few hours later, I got dressed--again, picking something green (not even realizing that it totally matched what I picked for him).

And then I sat down to make today's earrings, and I kept getting drawn back to my green beads. All of my efforts to use other colors failed.

...And so, I gave in. Here is what I made:

Green!

They are made with faceted glass, brass, and lightweight acrylic flowers.

You know, as far as today's green fixation goes: I blame the grey and grumpy weather. Everything outside is a muted shade of early winter, and I'm sorely missing colors. I suppose I shouldn't be too upset--we did get two good weeks of Fall in. Now as December approaches, I suppose it's time to hunker down and get ready for many more days of grey.

...We'll see what color I'm going to be obsessed with next. :)

Thanks for stopping by today... Have a wonderful (and hopefully not too grey) day, everyone!

Today's Earrings: When in Doubt...

...add tassels!

At least, that seems to be my current design philosophy! Hah!

Today's earrings were made with garnet and silver-plated metal... and are the product of me having no idea what else to make. I do think it's rather amusing that tassels are my go-to... I haven't really tried chain ones before, so this was a fun little experiment.

Off I go to eat a late lunch and work on my words for National Novel Writing Month... Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Today's Earrings: Sunshine!

When I woke up this morning, it was grey and dreary.

...So much so, actually, that I went back to bed for a few hours. (That might also have something to do with the fact that I'm not feeling all that well today. I hardly ever sleep in, so it was a special treat to do so!)

Then, later this afternoon--after I woke up, and it was still grey outside--I was sitting at my craft table in indecision. I was not feeling the creative spark at all, and had earrings to make.

And then the sun came out... and I made these:

Sunlight!

Well, vintage acrylic beads, actually--but they make me think of sunshine. Sometimes I swear I'm actually solar powered... just those few minutes of sitting in the sunlight as it streamed through my window was enough to inspire me.

Thanks for stopping by today, everyone... I hope you all have a wonderful day!
